Northumbria Winter League - weekly league report 10 June 2022

In Division 1 Cramlington Stingers lost 6-4 to St Chads with Keith Weatherby player of the match for St Chads with three wins, the win moves St Chads to top of the table. The Cramlington players Oliver Ho, Nigel Rodgers and Anth Doyle all secured wins against Barry Cuthbertson but only Oliver Ho could add to that with a good win against the experienced Paul Baines. Cramlington Casuals had a heavy 7-3 defeat away to Prudhoe with Mark O’Connor player of the match for Prudhoe proving too strong for the Casuals. Tony Slinger playing his first match of the summer league won two games for the Casuals against Peter Stepmczyk and John Henderson, with Rob Reed adding a win against John Henderson.

In Division 2 Tyneside had a straight forward 9-1 win over Ouston with Mark Kimberley and James Robertson winning three games for Tyneside. Outson’s Jeff McKenna was able to secure a point with a win over Daniel Foster. This win keeps Tyneside in top place in the division. Brandon Anacondas edged into second place with an 8-2 win over Cramlington Swifts. Stephen Pattinson and Jamie Westwater were in good form for Brandon both winning three games. The Swifts points came from wins by Rob Lee and Richard Williamson over David Brown who was playing up for Brandon. Durham City Scorpions maintained third place with a 7-3 win over Mount C. Ian McAllister and Harry Veitch both won their three games with the points from Mount caming from wins by Joseph Miller and Gary Anderson over Oliver Wilkinson with the pair also combining to win the doubles. NECA keep the pressure up on the top three after an 8-2 win against Ouston; this keeps them in fourth place with a game in hand. Terry Kwong was player of the match with three wins and was supported by Jamie Collins and Ken Lee who both won two each, their losses coming against Ouston’s Bernie Morris.

In Division 3 Stocksfield A moved into second place after a 9-1 win against Backspin B. Alex Nicholl won the first game for Backspin against Pete Seago but then Stocksfield dominated the rest of the game thanks to Alex Holliday and Richard Rayfield with three wins each and Pete Seago with two wins.  Cramlington Tigers lost 6-4 against top of the table Brandon Bravehearts which dropped them to third place in the league. Leo Conn was on good form for the Tigers winning all three games with Jamie Hall adding one with a five end win over David Brown.

In Division 4 there were comprehensive wins for the top two teams. Cramlington Cobras had a 10-0 win over Backspin D which kept them top of the table, the Cobras team of Roy Hugill, Alan Hedley and Steve Ralph proved too strong for their opponents. Cramlington Dragons had a 9-1 win against Cramlington Magpies with Paul Athey and Pauline Long both winning their three games for the Dragons. The Magpies point came from a win by Joel Dyter over Adrian Barnes.
