In the Premier Division NECA A maintained top place with a 9-1 win over St Chads. Adam Webster and Lee Tinkler both won three games for NECA; St Chads only win came in the last game of the night as Keith Weatherby beat Martin Schapira. Second placed Old England Jacks had a 9-1 win over Prudhoe United Services A with Neil Herrington and Steve Penman both winning three games and Joe Perrin stepping under from division 1 winning two games including a notable win against Mark O’Connor. Andrew Firth secured Prudhoe’s only point with a win over Joe Perrin in the closest game of the night, Joe Perrin had taken a 2-0 lead only for Andrew Firth to win the next three ends 13-11, 12-10 and 11-9 to secure the win. Third placed Mount A had a surprising 9-1 defeat against Newcastle University who fielded a strong side with Ben Savage and Jeremy Hamshaw both winning three games. Cramlington Stingers had a convincing 10-0 win over Tyneside A with Steve Pearce, Nigel Rodgers and Gareth Pearson proving too strong for their opponents.
In Division 1 Mount B kept themselves in top place with a 6-4 win over promotion rivals Ouston A. Lee Eadington was player of the match win three wins and was backed up by Dean Eadington with two wins although the pair couldn’t win the doubles which went to Ouston’s Bernie Morris and Jon Mawson. Old England Nomads keep up the pressure on Mount with a 7-3 win over NECA B with Old England’s Alan Atkinson, Joe Perrin and Lynne Herrington all winning two games. NECA had taken a 3-1 lead with two wins from Jamie Collins over Alan Atkinson and Joe Perrin , and a win for Kit Robinson over Lynne Herrington but Old England won the next six games to secure the 7-3 win. Cramlington Falcons keep themselves in promotion contention with a 7-3 win over Stocksfield A, Oliver Ho was player for the match with three wins for Cramlington.
In Division 2 there was no change at the top of the table as the top three teams were in action and all won. Brandon Bravehearts had a straightforward 10-0 win over bottom team Ouston C which keeps them in first position. Tyneside B maintain second place with a 6-4 win over Cramlington Reivers which saw Reivers’ Bernie McArdle secure player of the match with three wins although the games against Chas Robertson and James Moore were both close going to five ends. Ouston B stayed in third place although closed the gap to Tyneside with a 7-3 win over Stocksfield B. Jeff McKenna and Michael Lyons both won three games for Ouston. Cramlington Spartans had a 6-4 win against Mount D with Leo Conn securing player of the match with three wins including two games that went to fifth ends against Gary Anderson and Joseph Miller. Daniel Gazerani-Lopez stepped up from division 3 to play for the Spartans and secured his first win at the higher level edging out Gary Anderson in another five end game.
In Division 3 Stocksfield C had two games this week. In the first game they played promotion rivals Tyneside C and came out on top with a 6-4 win. David Crompton and Mark Perrin with two wins each and Richard Rayfield with one win enabled Stocksfield to secure the win but player of the match was Tyneside’s Daniel Foster who won his three games. The second game of the week was much more straightforward for Stocksfield as they beat Cramlington Magpies 10-0 with David Crompton, Richard Rayfield and Stefan Sobell proving too strong for their opponents. With Saints not playing this week this win moved Stocksfield into top place in the league. Cramlington Lions beat Cramlington Dragons 8-2 with the Lions’ Freddie McKenna and John McKenna both winning three games against the experienced Dragon’s team of Pauline Long, Adrian Barnes and Mark Gee.
