In the Premier Division NECA A were confirmed as division winners before they played this week’s match after second placed Old England Jacks conceded the match against Newcastle University. NECA A went on to beat Cramlington Casuals 6-4 later in the week which confirmed the outcome. Adam Webster was player of the match with three wins supported by Martin Schapira who had two wins. For Cramlington James Bradbury had a good win against Martin Schapira in a close game and both Duncan Wraight and Oliver Ho went close against him each losing in 5 ends. St Chads had a convincing 10-0 win against Prudhoe United Services A who could only field two players. Mount A had a 7-3 win over Cramlington Stingers with both Ant Ainley and Jimmy Scope winning three games and combining to win the doubles.
In Division 1 Mount B were confirmed as winners of the division after a 5-5 draw with Cramlington Falcons which puts them in an unassailable position with only one game left to play. Oliver Ho was player of the match winning all three games including a straight sets win over Lee Eadington who had been undefeated this season. Alan Roskilly also secured an impressive win over Shirley Gelder when he came back from 2-0 down to win the last three ends and secure his best win of the season. Stocksfield A had a straightforward 9-1 over bottom team Cramlington Tigers with Alex Holliday and Stephen Oxley both winning three games each. The Tigers point came from a Lynsey Storey win against Neil Forsyth. There was a close game between Ouston A and NECA B which ended in a 5-5 draw with seven of the games going to five ends. Jamie Collins was player of the match winning three games for NECA including twice coming back from 2-1 down to beat Bernie Morris and Jon Mawson.
In Division 2 Brandon Bravehearts had two games this week which they won comfortably to secure the division title by an 18 point margin. In the first game they beat Cramlington Swifts 9-1 and in the second game beat Tyneside B 8-2. Stephen Pattinson was player of the match in both games winning all his games. Ouston B took advantage of Tyneside’s defeat by winning 7-3 against Cramlington Swifts which saw Ouston secure the runner-up position in the division. Jamie Milroy was player of the match winning three games for Ouston with Harry Veitch and Duncan Hindmarsh winning two each in a number of close games against the Cramlington team of Philip Teah-Smith, Richard Williamson and Joel Dyter. Stocksfield B had a convincing 10-0 win against Ouston C, with Nigel Tree, Pete Seago and Tom Manuel proving too strong for their opponents. In the final game of the week Cramlington Reivers lost 7-3 to Mount D. Bernie McArdle was once again player of the match winning all three games for Cramlington but Mount’s team of Joseph Miller, Gary Anderson and Jon Evans each won two games.
The top two teams in Division 3 played each other this week with Stocksfield C winning 6-4 against Saints. Stocksfield raced into a 5-0 lead with wins for Richard Rayfield, David Crompton, Mark Perrin and the doubles but then Saints pegged them back winning the next four games to set up a final game decider. Richard Rayfield Beat Tom Marley in that final game to secure the win for his team. This win kept Stocksfield at the top of the division with a 6 point advantage over Saints, although Saints still have one game left to play and could take the division title. There was a straightforward 9-1 win for Cramlington Lions over bottom team Cramlington Magpies with three wins each for John McKenna and Freddie McKenna; and two wins for Dan Harrison.
