Many of you who have played in the league for as many years as myself will remember Peter Whiteman. Sadly, we have recently discovered that Peter passed away approximately two years ago after suffering with respiratory problems.

Peter was quite a character who played in the local and British leagues for many years. He represented the county/league in the Wilmott Cup (1967/68) and North Sea Cup (1978/79). Peter was also an outstanding doubles player having won the Northumberland Closed doubles competition on numerous occasions with various partners. He was also a member of the Revac team that won the Northumberland League First Division title (before the days of a premier division) in 1967/68.

I'm sure many of you will have your own stories and recollections of Peter.
