Match Report

The Atmosphere on Monday night was strange at LSG Arena, silence everywhere, no one in the club except the two teams Dragons and Chasers and the three spectators two home & one in the away end.
Team news Pugwash Smith out after swallowing a fisherman’s friend so that left Cabin boy Davies, Railwaymon and Galeforce with Owdmon declaring himself fit for doubles after his long layoff. Chasers fielding Roy the Owd Master Bradbury, Dave the rave Newton and Ljubov the brave who should have been on a xmas night out with the girls in Manchester but chose this instead. I think she needs a shrink.
Game starts with a thriller 12-10 12-10 10-12 4-11 11-7 to Railwaymon just beating a revived Bradbury. Adam put his revision down to beat Dave 3-1 to give Dragons a good start. Ljubov then took an easy 2 nil lead against Galeforce but he came back quickly to make it 2 all and at 7-1 up in the fifth it looked over. Ljubov then realised she turned down booze for this and stepped up to come back and win 11-9. Garfin shaking his head in disbelief.
This started a run of four straight victories for Chasers with Roy beating Adam 3-2 in a cracker, Roy rolling back the years. Ljubov beat Gary 3-0 and Roy / Ljubov combo beat Galeforce / Mawdesley in five. Good to see Owdmon come through the test.
Garfin beat Dave 3-1 to pull some back but the game had gone when Ljubov the brave took her fourth straight MoM award beating Adam 3 nil. Galeforce beat Roy in five and Dave beat Gary 3-0 to leave the score 18 – 24 Chasers.
After leaving the silent Miners Club, Leigh Observer caught up with Ljubov and special guest Jeremy Hunt (ex-health secretary). “What do you put this excellent form down to” Hunt asked, Ljubov replied “down to you and the state of the NHS, for the last 12 years I’ve worked on A&E with the never ending hours so no time to train or play but now the end is in sight with a new job I’m more relaxed”. Hunt with that smirk on his faced said “ I told you I was good for something”. After Ljubov deposited Hunt in the skip she drove home with a smile on her face.
Well played Chasers and good luck in the new Job Ljubov all the best.
