Match Report

Noah was constructing his Ark on the Miners pitch as the rain poured down outside but it didn’t dampen the appetite for a mouth-watering contest. Poolstock Pirates sailed in on the back of two good wins and Dragons licking their wounds after suffering their first defeat of the season last time out.

Galeforce Garfin, Lee Pugwash Smith and late sub Rambo Davies faced up to Captain Cool hand Cantlie, Doing the Do Dootson and out of retirement Kevin the Gerbil Hayes.

Game on Pugwash and Doing the Do danced around the table before Puggy put the Do in the bag 3 nil Dragons. CHC strolled through the first two legs this got Rambo mad, head band on and away we go Rambo levels it and into a fifth set ….Hello Owdmon not marking a five setter strange things can happen… The fifth poised at 9 all, a great rally finished off with a cool winner and CHC goes on to win it. This is what the packed crowd came to see.

Galeforce was stunned by Kev Gerbil in the first but recovered well to take it 3-1. Kevin sits down and rings Roland for a bit of support. The next two matches went quickly to the Dragons pair Rambo & Pugwash beating Dootson & Hayes 3-1 & 3-0 respectively. The pair took the table for the doubles against Doing the Do & Cool Hand. The Dragons soon took control winning the first two with all players playing some exciting TT. This was matched by Pirates taking the next two to take it into a fifth set. All players hit winners and in turn missed opportunities until once again Cool Hand Cantlie guided the Pirates home 3-2. Score at this point Dragons 16 -8 up.

CHC stayed on to beat Galeforce in three. Rambo finally got the better of a rampant Gerbil 3-1 and Galeforce returned to beat Keith 3-1. This left the two number ones to fight it out for the MoM award. Cool Hand got off to a great start and Pugwash struggled to recover, both players putting in the effort guaranteed a great finish to the night CHC taking it 3-0. Final score Dragons 22 Pirates 16

Drinks in the bar after with Roland Rat who had kindly driven Kevin to the game in his Ratmobile. RR give us a quick rendition of his classic Rat Rapping, Lee was in his element disco dancing around the Miners. I left him to it, hope he recovers before the next outing.
