Over 60's weekend at Milton Keynes

Report for Over 60’s weekend at Milton Keynes

October 29/30th 2011

 Written by Margret Dignum

Team: Ray Dixon, Pat McCabe, Mike Meredith and Mervyn Wood.

Lynda Reid and Margaret Dignum

Worcestershire v Essex  3-7

Playing in the Premier division was always going to be tough but this team with Stuart Gibbs (who still has all of his power and brilliance) was exceptionally hard. The three games were taken by Lynda Reid who beat Shirley Carroll, Pat McCabe who beat Dave Bowles and Ray Dixon and Margaret Dignum who beat Dave Bowles and Shirley Carroll in the doubles.

Worcestershire v Sussex 2-8

Again the star of the match was Lynda who was playing at her best, beating Pauline Steel. Ray and Margaret won a close doubles 10 in the fifth against Pauline and Andy Meads.

Worcestershire v Surrey 4-6

Lynda beat Sally Simpson comfortably giving her a 100% for the weekend. Margaret and Mervyn won a doubles and Ray beat Tony Needham in an all out exciting hitting game. The star of the match was Mike Meredith having a great win over Derek Holman confusing Derek with his chop and then hitting the unexpected ball with his back hand.

As the team has an average age of 70 and it is the over 60’s I think everyone did as well as could be expected.  Well done team!
