Match Report
This game was going on alongside ours on Thursday and from what I observed Nick Bakewell was on imperious form seeing off Barry and Ben with some powerful attacking drives. Graham though gave him a tougher test and after being two sets down stormed back to take the next two and set up what should have been a close fifth. Nick however seemed to find another gear and Graham's challenge fell away and Nick took the set to five. Barry and Eddie also had a Titanic duel and when Barry took the first two sets it looked like the writing was on the wall for Eddie but Barry got careless and Eddie's retrieving bordered on the miraculous at times and he took the next two sets. There were some great rallies in the fifth but try as he did Barry just could not get his smashes past the Con Club man's defence and he lost in five. Ben won a couple of sets but generally had a night to forget and it was left to Graham to gain the two points for the Bandits. Tony was his usual steady self picking up a couple of wins for the Con Club. Nick and Eddie proved too strong for Barry and Ben in the doubles, winning in four sets.
