PARKHOUSE PAIRS LEAGUE 2024 - OVERVIEW
The teams will be placed in 2 random divisions named by our sponsor. The winning team in each division along with the runner up will play-off for the Parkhouse Pairs Cup.
A pair of players is required for each match which will consist of 4 singles and 1 doubles, best of 5 games up to 11, with a point awarded for each set won.
Each player has been designated with a number (relating to their current league rating) which determines the handicap. The lower ranked player receives 2 points / number difference (ie 2 v 4 will be +4 start in each game for the 4 player). Previous season's winners receive an extra 2 point penalty.
Doubles Handicap Matrix:

FURTHER DETAILS
The aim of this competition is to provide a friendly, sporting and enjoyable league for those wishing to continue playing competitive table tennis once the league season is completed during the early summer months.
Teams should consist of 2, 3 or 4 committed players. (2 players for each match)
5 Sets (4 singles, 1 doubles) the best of 5 games up to 11, with a point awarded for each set won.
A simple handicap system will operate, based on league performance (if applicable), +2 points / division. Non-league players will be assessed (SD& TTTL averages - over 75% will be classed as division higher, under 25% will be classed in division lower). Previous winners will have a further 2 point penalty.
A player may be registered on the night of the match at the discretion of the organiser.
For this to work we need a commitment. Only 2 postponements will be permitted / team. Any postponements must be agreed between team contacts and a rearranged date sorted. The aim is to play rearranged matches after the first matches of the night commencing at 8:15ish. I need to be informed of any such postponements/rearrangements.
There will be no team entry fee, but normal £5 session fee applies (£3 for juniors)
First round of matches will commence on Friday 26th April 2024, 6.45pm and will run weekly throughout April, May & June
By mutual agreement matches may be played during the following Saturday morning session.
Team contacts will be given a fixture list.
Fixtures, results, league tables etc will be posted on the Newton Abbot TTC website.
This competition is open to players from other clubs who are prepared to play to a high standard of integrity and sportsmanship, and is also open to non-league players.
If you wish to be involved but don’t have a partner/team I will do my best to team you up with others in a similar situation.
A minimum of 8 committed pairs/teams will be required to successfully run this event.
Many thanks to Fred Wakefield of Parkhouse Furniture Restoration & Upholstery for sponsoring this competition.
