Knights Lane Brass Monkeys

FISSC  Ashorne  entertained their stablemates FISSC West Warwicks in the now seasonal freezing and slippy Knights Lane conditions.

Highlights of the evening first saw Pete Rodwell as the only visitor present at 7:30 put himself on and opposing captain John Hunt call on Steve Bolton, getting as he put it what is traditionally a long encounter out of the way early. The two protagonists did not disappoint their audience producing a hard fought 45 minute epic that Rodwell edged 9 in the 5th. That was Rodwell's only triumph of the evening as  Hunt and George Mudie both overcame him. John Hunt also had a good win in four over Jim Ferguson but could not overcome opposing skipper Rowland who was the only undefeated player on the evening. This was however in some doubt as George Mudie who played well all evening staged a remarkable recovery to almost topple him. A somewhat statuesque Rowland wary of the slippy conditions had won the first 2 games and had a match point in the 3rd before Mudie won that , and in a rich vein of hitting raced through the 4th and led throughout the 5th before Rowland dug derp to win 5 of the last 6 points to edge it. Mudie and Hunt were 2 games to the good and 10-8 up in the 3rd before Rowland and Ferguson put caution to the wind and somehow won the 3rd and the next 2 games to leave west Warwicks winners of a hard fought encounter 7-3.
