Stratford Herald Week Beginning March 23rd

This weeks plangent ping panegyric provided by Peter Florence :

Two matches were played last week before the decision to postpone all remaining fixtures could be communicated.
Snitterfield moved up one place to second spot in the Division 1 table with a comprehensive 9-1 victory over Colebridge Pasties. Alan Cotton and Clive Irwin both recorded trebles although, in the only contest to go the full distance, Irwin had to overcome a two set deficit before taking the honours 14-12 in the decider against Mike Credland. However Credland did have the satisfaction of ensuring his team avoided the whitewash, by putting aside loss of the first end to overcome Steve Cull who notched a brace for Snitterfield.
In Division 2, despite only being able to field two players, Shottery B came away from Henley with a 6-4 win. The hosts got off to an ideal start when Nigel Payne gained a narrow victory over Steve Smith. Subsequently it was the visitors who took control as they enjoyed a clean sweep of the remaining contests. Smith earned a brace, while his captain Tim Fell produced a brace, with the two players also  combining to claim the doubles.
As the League goes into its enforced break Shottery A head the Division 1 table with a six point advantage over Snitterfield, while Stratford A are a further three behind.
In Division 2 Blazing Paddles enjoy a three point advantage over their closest rivals Shottery B with Tanworth Taipans in third position
