Match Report

Henley 'A' welcomed the Troopers with a 'bit of a wait' in our deserted coal- black carpark. Ahem. No doubt high level TT tactics were being discussed as well as pressing family issues as they waited for us in their battle bus. However, working together proceedings were soon underway. Henley were fielding their go-to reserve in the form of Tony Seymour as Captain Geoff (captain) and team heavyweight Nigel both having the temerity to take holidays mid season! lol. Team Clarke comprising Dad (Jim) and lads (George and Henry) were keen as mustard to 'kick off' ASAP. Peter Quince correctly pointing out that tomorrow was a school day. George was untroubled in the first game, taking it in three with only 14 points conceded. Dave Hatcher deciding that his new long pimples bat was not the silver bullet he had hoped for! Scores were level at 1-1 after in-form Peter Quince snatched victory from  Henry in an entertaining five set top-spin tussle. The Troopers continued to add points to their total until at 1-5 Tony came face to face with Henry. Despite a stylish performance from Henry, victory eluded him following a handful of unforced errors. The doubles were fiercely fought with victory going to the visitors after 3 cracking games. The final tally of 2 -8 was a fair reflection of a really fun evening
