Three days after a celebrated win over doughty Veteran County defender Pat McCabe , Mike Credland played another veteran chopper , soon-to-be-81 year old Brian Marston , and came within a hairs breadth of losing his game , saving a match point in the fourth end. Displaying his customary flinty Cornish fortitude , he battled back to take the end , and the fifth set.
The two Davids, Wye and Higgins , battled gamely and with good humour , but there was to be no breakthrough on an evening which belonged to a Pasty team also comprising Dean Hicks and Mike Evetts.
