Match Report

The evening started slowly, because the code to the key safe outside Alderminster Village Hall has changed over the summer and we were all stranded outside. Fortunately a friend who lives in the village was able to come and rescue us. Since Shottery B (and Blazing Paddles on the other table) only had two players, the delayed start wasn’t a big issue in the end.

With regard to the match, Gareth was in good form. He and Tim pushed Stephen and me to the wire in the doubles and then he was involved in the game of the evening (another 5 setter) with Rob. There were some cracking rallies and it was nip and tuck all the way. Gareth eventually prevailed 11:9 in the fifth. He also made short work of Stephen in the final game of the evening.
