TT Leagues Update Note - Maintenance and Performance Improvement

Update 8th December

After a week of intensive scrutiny of the code and associated infrastructure, yesterday afternoon (6th Dec) the developers implemented significant changes to remove identified bottlenecks that were limiting the performance of the system. They also increased server capacity.

As far as I can tell, the system is now working normally – indeed the changes that have been made mean TT Leagues is currently operating faster than it has ever been.

We are continuing to monitor the performance of the system and to investigate how we can streamline the code and remove bottlenecks. We expect this work to continue into next week – and perhaps longer.

Notification received 28th November concerning performance issues with the Tt leagues system

To: TT Leagues Admins

We have become aware of a fall-off in speed & performance of the TT Leagues system over the last few months. This is primarily due to wider application of TT Leagues to new competitions and increases in functionality all leading to greater demands on the system. We’ve asked the developers to investigate and make some improvements.

This week they are doing some maintenance and performance testing of the database. Whilst some of this can be done overnight, some has to be done in office-hours so that the changes in performance can be identified in real-time. Whilst this activity takes place, there may be some fall-off in performance. We plan to finish the office-hours testing by the end of the week.

In the meantime, we have identified a number of key benchmarks for testing speed and performance on a regular basis. These benchmarks cover critical aspects of the system such as opening of the results-entry forms and submission & approval.

We hope that as a result of the work we are doing this week, we will see an improvement in speed and performance which the benchmarks will help us maintain.

Please bear with us while this maintenance and performance improvement is taking place.
