Nick Davidson has been presented with the 2023 Table Tennis England Pride Award for the South West Regional Coach of the Year.
Nick is an enormous contributor to the sport of table tennis across a whole swathe of the counties of Avon and Gloucestershire and sometimes beyond. He's the head coach at SGS College on a part-time basis running sessions for both juniors and adults which has seen table tennis grow and grow in these areas, so much so that there's a waiting list for his sessions.
He has a big network and tries to find space for everyone to participate.
Not content with running a club in Avon, he is also the chair of Cheltenham Table Tennis Club and another club in the SW area that has seen the youth population and coaching team grow.
In addition to all of this he promotes and works as mentor to a number of other coaches in the area whilst also helping Table Tennis England in his role as a tutor and assessor.
Nick promotes and runs competitions in the Avon County whilst also managing teams in the local league, National junior league, British Junior league and can be seen at a lot of national tournaments.
He puts in a large amount of effort and has a very holistic approach to working with individuals but he never takes any of the limelight, preferring his players get all the credit.
His own children also play and he finds time to coach them on an individual basis, together with Michele Reeves who is number 3 in England over 40 and former National Champion.
He is willing to travel quite long distances if he knows he can make a difference to the development of players and this wishing to meet their full potential.
A very positive forward-thinking person who has a wealth of experience that he is willing to share and discuss with anyone that is interested.
In his spare time, just in case you think he has any, he also currently looks after the chair and is involved heavily with the Tri Team Glos Young Triathletes.
