Congratulations to Mike Withyman who retired from his role as Somerset County TTA Chairman at the AGM held at Ark in Taunton. Mike has been a hugely influential presence for the sport for many years. Mike was presented with a trophy as a token of the county’s appreciation for everything he’s done. The trophy was presented by County Association President Brian Reeves. Brian announced he would also be standing down as President and nominated Mike to replace him which was unanimously agreed.
Mike was presented with two additional awards on the night: The Pride of Table Tennis Lifetime Achievement Award and the prestigious Maurice Goldstein Merit Award given by the Table Tennis England Honours Committee. These are a clear sign of the regard with which Mike is held in the sport nationally.
