Bristol Summer League report 2

Saturday September 21st has been confirmed as the date for this year’s Bristol Summer League competition final. The winners from the four competing divisions will play their semi-final matches at Bristol Civil Service Club at 10am. The two winning semi-finalists will then play their final on the same day at about 12.30pm.

After the first month of competition, one or two favourites are already beginning to emerge.

In Division 1, Andrew Cheung’s SGS C have taken an early lead with Civil Faulty, led by the wily Duncan Jones, also in close contention. The Portishead Minnows, made up entirely of junior players, are also in the hunt.

In Division 2, St George Demons, skippered by Neil Darnley, are the early leaders, closely followed by Dave Grounsell's Portishead Pedaloes and Dave Goacher’s Westbury team.

Division 3 sees a number of teams with matches still to be played. However, Sol Bowra and his Not So Civil Servers team have made an outstanding start with two big wins so far.

In Division 4, Mark Woodcock’s Page team bounced back from losing their first match with a 10-1 victory to go second in the table. Leading the division, however, are Doug White and his Portishead Sea Pickles team, who matched Page’s 10-1 victory.

Best regards
