Charlie Matthew and Dennis Oon in the final of ADTTA Ping Pong Tournament 2021
It was great to see Ping Pong Tournament returning to Aberdeen after a break. Charlie Matthew won this year's edition in a great style without losing a single game throughout the day. That's the second win in a row for Charlie after beating Umesh Nakho in 2019 final. This time it was Dennis Oon who reached the final but despite his steady performance earlier in the event, he was not able to take a game from Charlie.
Sandpaper bats proved again to be an excellent equaliser, allowing players from lower divisions to compete and score great points against Div.1 and Div.2 players. Big thanks to Alison Woods for her work at the top table and to our host Dave Curry. We're all pleased we were able to run this year's edition at such a great venue as Woodbank - many thanks to all who made it possible.
For those who'd like to continue ping pong adventure this year, there is still time to sign up for Scottish Championships which will be held at Road Ward Gym in Dundee on 18th December. If you're interested, please get in touch with Juliet Johnston at pingpong@johnstonfamily.me.uk by Monday, 13th December.
