Match report - December 10th 2018

Amazing Jake Haygarth

Another exciting week’s play in Division 1 of the Kendal & District Table Tennis League, saw 12 year old Jake Haygarth from Kirkby Stephen defeat all 3 top players from title favourites Natland A, an unbelievable performance from the youngster. Tamas Bacsi was beaten 11-5, 11-7, 12-10, Roger Pimblett, many times Kendal League singles finalist, 8-11, 11-3, 14-12, 12-10 and Louise Thompson in straight games. The sky seems to be the limit for young Jake. None of this prevented Natland winning the match 22-14, however, and climbing to 2nd place in the table, 42 points behind Burton A but with 2 games in hand. A crushing 30-3 demolition of Natland B enabled IBIS to move up to 4th and still just about in touch with the leaders.

Crook B remain top of Division 2 following a comprehensive 30-2 destruction of Kirkby Stephen B. Phil Swift, Mike Taylor and John Wood were all unbeaten. Crook B are still unbeaten but both Natland C and Natland D are chasing hard, trailing the leaders by only 8 and 12 points respectively after 9 matches. Any slip up by the leaders could prove expensive.
