Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Courses at UCLAN - Preston run by Dan OConnell

Dear All,

Coaching is a great way to support your Club and the growth of table tennis in the area. It is also a way of helping you understand your own game.

Here are the dates when Level 1 and Level 2 courses will be run by Dan O’Connell at UCLAN, Preston.

Already advertised on the Table Tennis England website (go to the Organisers and Venues tab and look for “Become a coach”)

Level 1 Coaching Course (this takes place on two Saturdays-the first day is learning and the second Saturday is more learning plus assessment). Between the two saturdays you have online learning and practical time to do some lesson plans that you run yourself at one of the local clubs. We will help you to do this so you get your practice before the second Saturday. You do not need a lot of technical expertise for Level 1. The course is frequently attended by teachers who are new to table tennis and covers the key areas of “what to teach” (Forehand, backhand, serve, rally, how to score) and “How to teach” (good communication, listening skills, venue assessment, lesson plans etc)

Saturday 13th April

Saturday 25th May

Level 2 Coaching Course (this course takes place on 3 Saturdays with more face to face learning time than Level 1 and with practical and online work to do before the final Saturday. This level requires more technical expertise than Level 1 with the Course covering a lot of key areas including spin, movement, tactics, receiving service and much more). Again we will assist you to ensure you can get the practical sessions completed before the final Saturday

Saturday 1st June

Saturday 8th June

Saturday 3rd August

A few Kendal League players have already booked onto both Level 1 or Level 2 courses…so you will not be on your own.

To book you need to go onto  the TTE website where there is information about the courses.

Level 1 costs £190

Level 2 costs £270

If you have any questions please contact me (lowerbirkby@gmail.com).

Best regards
