Sutton Valence A overcome large handicap deficit to win team final

The Maidstone Table Tennis 2018/2019 League concluded with the finals of the handicap team finals at Larkfield Village Hall on Wednesday 1st May, supported by an unusually large enthusiastic crowd.

The Allen Cooper final was between 2nd division Sutton Valence A and 4th division Barming G. With the second division side giving on average a 0-10 start to their 4th division opponents. Sutton Valences Alan Morton was his team’s hero winning all three of his matches able supported by Anna Vihrogonova who won two. Toby Simpson’s two for Barming G was not quite enough as Sutton Valence won the final match for a 5 – 4 victory.

The Plate final was an all 4th division affair with MWMC G, defeating new comers to the league East Peckham 7 – 2.

Sarah Stevens lead her team with 3 wins well supported by Ryan Tucker & Sally Reeve who both had two wins.

The trophies were presented by Allen’s widow Janie Cooper.

Barming G – Toby Simpson (2), Sandra Parkes (1), Luke Kyte (1),   5 - 4

Plate Final – MWMC G – Ryan Tucker (2), Sally Reeve (2), Sarah Stevens (3) beat

East Peckham – Dave Routley (1), Daniel Smith (1), Peter Mason (0),  7 – 2.

Complimentary refreshments were supplied by the league to both players and spectators.
