Two finals for Miro Danadzhiev but youngsters Boyle & Vaughan make the most their high handicaps.

The Maidstone Table Tennis League handicap championships were held on the 4th November 2018 at Larkfield Table Tennis Club. Returning from a 15 year absence from Table Tennis, Alan Morton (Sutton Valence) made the most of his handicap to reach the final of the open singles before his luck ran out against first division player Miro Danadzhiev (Coxheath), (9-0) 18-21, 18-21 in the final. Morton made the most of his 8-0 start to beat Petar Tancevski (Coxheath) 21-13, 21-12 in one semi-final while in the other semi-final, Joe Boyle (Kingshill) could not make the most of his 14-0 start against Danadzhiev losing 20-21, 18-21.

Boyle, did however go on to win the under 25 event making his 8-0 start count in beating Barming’s Haydn Vaughan 15-21, 21-11, 21-8 in the final.

Claire Blackman (Coxheath) won the 25-49 year age group beating club colleague Miro Danadzhiev 20-21, 21-16, 21-14. Danadzhiev unable to retrieve Blackman’s 10-0 start.

The most exciting final was the over 50 year old event where TT Traders, Shev McDonald just managed to pull back a 0-9 deficit to beat beat Larkfield’s Phil Harvey 20-21, 21-17, 21-20 on the last point, with both players enjoying the occasion with lots of banter.

 

Open Final – Miro Danadzhiev (0) beat Alan Morton (9) 21-18, 21-18

Under 25 Final – Joe Boyle (8) beat Haydn Vaughan (0) 15-21, 21-11, 21-8

25-49 Year Final – Claire Blackman (10) beat Miro Danadzhiev (0) 20-21, 21-16, 21-14

Over 50’s Final – Shev McDonald (0) beat Phil Harvey (9) 20-21, 21-17, 21-20
