Sutton Valence are Handicap Kings

The Maidstone Table Tennis 2022/2023 season finally closed with Sutton Valence teams winning the Allen Cooper Team event and the Handicap Plate event at the Larkfield Club finals night on 26.4.2023.

Third Division Traders were never able to get to grips with the handicap difference they were giving away to fourth Division Sutton Valence D, although Richard Bashford lost two matches 20-21 in the third leg. John Clark, Karthik Damaporan and John Whitenstall made the most of their handicaps ranging from 6-0 to 14-0 starts to 21 to win 9 – 0.

Sutton Valence A from the second Division made it a club double when they won the Plate event beating East Peckham B from division 4, 8 – 1.

The superior consistency of the higher league team meant they were comfortably able to pull back the 0-13 and 0-15 starts. Alan Morton, Anna Vihrogonova & Tomasz Szpak were comfortable winners although Alex Rimmer did beat Anna Vihrogonova in the final match of the evening 21-11, 18-21, 21-10,
