Sunday 17 September saw the first National Table Tennis event of the season take place, the North of Scotland Open at Aberdeen Sports Village, and the event drew a large entry of over 100 players from around Scotland.

UK School Games 2017: Scotland had both a Boys and Girls team competing in the Table Tennis U18 category this year, with ASV TT Academy players Dylan Curry & Tessa Yau making up a third of their respective teams.

The draws have now been made for the North Confined Tournament to be held this Saturday (15th April) at the Sports Village and are enclosed herewith along with approximate event timings.

Aberdeen entered 5 teams in a variety of junior categories, u13 boys & girls, u15 boys, and u18 boys & girls. There was an expectation that Aberdeen would win 2 of the 5 categories entered, but the performances of the times far outstripped the expectation, and Aberdeen returned with 4 junior titles, and the runner-up spot in the 5th event!

All 4 quarter finals have now been played and the results, together with the draw from the semi finals, are attached. The semi finals are scheduled to be played week commencing Monday 3rd April. There are some slight revisions to the handicaps and they are also attached. Good luck to all 4 teams. The final is scheduled for Wednesday 26th April at the Sports Village.

The 2017 North Confined Tournament is to be held at the Sports Village on Saturday 15th April. Entry is open to anyone residing in the North East of Scotland and there are events for all age groups.

In the premier National event across all junior and adult age groups, a large contingent from Aberdeen were in attendance, all vying to become the ‘Scottish Champion’ in their respective categories. Aberdeen ended the day with 3 Scottish Champions in 3 different categories, and two Silver medals, with some excellent performances on the day.

Unfortunately Hazlehead Primary School is no longer available on Thursday evenings for Hazlehead TT Club to play their league matches. All 4 teams which used to play there – Hooligans, Hawks, Surfers and CSI – will now play their home matches at Aberdeen Grammar School in the small gym.

Handicaps are still being reviewed following the recent KO Cup matches and will be issued later in the week. They will be different from the KO Cup handicaps.
