Notification Of Postponements

The league rules require the team responsible for a postponement to notify the league  This allows us to record the postponement on the systems which we try to do within 24 hours of the notification. Failure to notify us means that does not happen. We have had instances where the lack of an update on the system has caused a lot of confusion with opposition players who are relying on the system for details of their fixtures.

Similarly we do need to be kept informed about the rearranged dates. It is not possible for players to enter scores on TT Leagues for any match that does not have a fixture date and also creates problems for the players who are relying on the system fixture lists.

Steve Knight is now assisting with league administration and is paying attention to the rearranging of matches. Teams who have postponed will initially receive a polite request from him to notify the league of a rearranged date within the timescale contained in the league rules. We would ask that teams try to arrange new dates before the last few weeks of the season to avoid a late season backlog. The league will prefer it if matches are provisionally arranged earlier eg for cup weeks or over the Christmas period. We will be sympathetic if the new dates are arranged in good faith but if they later prove to be a problem we will not count a further postponement for those matches.

Will people who postpone a match please remember to notify the league. There is the postponement form available to use for the notification however I am fairly relaxed about receiving the notification in email form. That is providing it contains the information on the form. Incomplete information adds to our workload particularly where lack of information makes it difficult to identify the actual match being postponed.

Also a clarification with regard to providing at least 48 hours notice of postponements.

If a team provides less than 48 hours notice then the opposition team is allowed to claim a walkover. The league often receives the notification separately so is not in a position to know when the opposition team was notified. It is up to the opposition team to claim the walkover and provide us with the information in support of that claim. The league would prefer matches to be rearranged where possible and for opposition teams to make allowances for extenuating circumstances. However the rules do allow claims to be made where the opposition team is inconvenienced by the late notice particularly if there is no good reason for late notice of postponement.
