Vets Southend Championship Rules and
Guidance Friday 14th February 2025

All vets have to reach their chosen vets group age by 1st January 2025 in order to qualify for
that age group in the tournament. ie Vets over 40’s, over 50’s, over 60’s over 70’s & over
80’s. You may participate in two vets categories only and the vets doubles if you wish.
It is recommended that for strong players if eligible for the over 50’s and over 60’s that you
choose one or the other as these are run back to back and would mean that you could play
many matches without a reasonable break.

Order of play:

Over 70’s 12.00pm start
Over 80’s 12.00pm start
Over 50’s 1.30pm start (Plate competition dependant on numbers)
Over 60’s 3.30pm start (Plate competition dependant on numbers)
Over 40’s 6.00pm start (Plate competition dependant on numbers)
Vets Doubles 7.30pm start (Plate competition dependant on numbers)

Please ensure that you arrive on time and no more than 30mins before your group is due to
start. Upon arrival you MUST book in with the control table.
When your groups have finished playing, you MUST inform the control table straight away
and hand in the score sheet.
The bottom placed player of each of the groups will be expected to umpire in the next
round of the main competition before playing in the plate knock out stages.
All Vets groups will have designated tables and players as umpires for the main and plate
competitions. Please stick to the designated tables.
Please ensure that once your group/match is completed, you inform the control table straight
away and hand in the score sheet.
If you need to leave the playing area, please let the control table know as this will help us to
manage the competition.
