It’s a much shorter report than usual as the second half of the Season is only just underway in the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League. Danbury D made an impressive start to the second half of the Season in division two. Sam Lowman and Cameron Gray both won their three singles as they ran out 8-2 winners against Maldon C.

With the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League Season having reached it’s half way stage the 12 first division teams will now form two mini divisions and the teams will be looking forward to hearing who their fixtures are for the second half of the Season.

We have been informed that Steve Siggs' funeral will take place at 12.30pm on Thursday 17 January 2019 at Chelmsford Crematorium (South Chapel).

This week’s division one matches in the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League produced four close fought affairs and two 9-1 results. The leaders Maldon A predictably ran out 9-1 winners, against Rawreth after Trevor Lloyd and Alex Abbott had stayed undefeated.

Malcolm Storey, a Writtle teammate and friend, has written this tribute to Steve Siggs who died on Thursday 6 December 2018 during a Brentwood League match.

The two main contenders (and it’s not unfair to say the only contenders) met this week in the first division of the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League and their 5-5 draw means that Maldon A retain their six point lead over Chelmsford A. The match was a personal triumph for 2012 and 2013 M&G Investments Chelmsford Mens Singles Champion Alex Abbott who was on sparkling form and he won his three singles.

The A Team comprised of the Danbury players Ben Porter, Ewan Hynd and Sam Mortimer- Ford again whilst the B Team was the Chelmsford Club’s James Donald, Sudheep Kamma and Joachin Mapes. 

Sam and Ewan won 6 out of 8 matches and Ben 5 out of 8

We have to report the terribly sad news of the death of Steve Siggs who collapsed and died whilst playing in a Brentwood League match on Thursday 6 December 2018.

Danbury B scored their first win of the Season in the first division of the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League and their 7-3 victory over Hatfield Peverel A takes them out of the bottom two. With Gus Heath, Steve Buer and Chris Buer all winning twice they raced in to a 7-0 lead as nothing went Hatfield Peverel’s way-literally nothing at all !.
