This week saw three teams from Chelmsford table tennis club advance to the handicap cup semi-finals. Youngsters Sami Osman, Amir Chetitah, Alesha Ellis-Austin, Cleon Fernandes and Dion Fernandes all played starring roles for their respective teams.

Martin Archie went unbeaten as Hatfield Peverel A drew 5-5 with leaders Chelmsford C - the destination of the division two title remains undecided with just four points separating the two teams with five matches remaining.

John Jennings's funeral will be held at 1.30pm on Wednesday 28th February at Braintree Crematorium with the Wake from 2.30pm at Braintree Town Football Club.

Just four points separate the top two teams in division two as Chelmsford C and Hatfield Peverel A were both held to 5-5 draws in week 21. The two sides meet in week 22 with Chelmsford looking to avenge their 8-2 loss at the hands of Monday’s visitors earlier in the season.

Week twenty of the C&DTTL season saw the divisional leaders parade their dominance over its competition. There were 10-0 wins for OCA A (Div 1) and Galleywood C (Div 4), a 9-1 win for Galleywood B (Div 3) and 8-2 wins for Chelmsford C (Div 2) and Danbury M (Div 5).

The Chelmsford League Committee were saddened to learn of the passing of John Jennings (1938-2024). John who was 85 played in Braintree league and was a qualified umpire and will be best remembered by the Chelmsford League for his many appearances at finals night assisting Arthur Clark with the umpiring. Our condolences to his son Richard who played in the Chelmsford league for many years and the rest of his family.

David Gatheral completed what must be a rare feat on Monday night when playing six individual matches across two different divisions at two different venues. Gatheral was the only Danbury C player to attend the fixture at Chelmsford B and following his three singles matches he dashed to Old Chelmsfordians where he competed in another three singles matches for Danbury D. Six individual matches, four wins - great stuff David!

Evie Knaapen, 13, added the Women’s singles title to the haul of trophies she had already collected at the C&DTTL Annual Championships while Matthew Mulley continued his unbeaten league form to lift both the Men’s singles and Men's doubles trophies.
