The Ready Position

  • Feet slightly wider than shoulder width.

  • Bat foot slightly further back than non-bat foot.

  • Knees slightly bent.

  • Body leans slightly forward, arms in front of body.

  • Bat arm bent 90° at the elbow.

  • Stand an arms-length from the table.

  • Weight on the front part of your feet, not on your heels.

  • The bat should be held in front of the body, above the table, ready for easy transfer to forehand or backhand strokes.
