The Warwickshire Over 40s Veterans exceeded expectations in the first series of County Championship matches following their promotion to Division 1A, winning two and narrowly losing one of their three matches.

On Saturday 8th November, the Warwickshire Junior County team starting their campaign in Division 1A, with three matches taking place at Sycamore Table Tennis Club in Nottingham. The Warwickshire representatives were Timmy Cooper, Sam Henderson, Lee Dorning, Olivia Fletcher and Lisa Rinnhofer.

Warwickshire Over 60's enjoyed a highly competitive weekend at Draycott last week as they played the first three matches of their campaign in Division 1A of the County Championship. Firstly, Warwickshire overcame Bedfordshire 8-2, before sharing the spoils 5-5 against close rivals Worcestershire, and finally just losing 4-6 against a strong Yorkshire 2 side who remained unbeaten over the weekend and who won the division last season.

The Table Tennis England-supported Ping Pong Care Campaign, ran by BRITDOC, has been nominated for a National Lottery Award, recognising the great work that has been accomplished using table tennis ‘therapy’ in care homes across the UK.

In one of the most thrillingly close contests in recent years, Kent narrowly pipped Warwickshire to the post in Division 1B of the Senior County championships. It was round 6 that proved significant in deciding the outcome of the championship. Kent defeated Worcestershire 9-1, while Warwickshire scored an 8-2 victory over Hertfordshire This meant that when the two sides met in round 7, Kent knew that a draw would guarantee them the title.

Warwickshire Over 60's gained a dramatic 6-4 win at home to Nottinghamshire last weekend in their final County Championships Div 1A fixture of the season, which should be enough to guarantee a final mid-table position.

The County Over 40s Veterans narrowly missed out on the Division 2A title after an engrossing weekend of matches in Wellingborough. Needing to equal Staffordshire’s result in the final round, Warwickshire could only manage a draw against a strong and determined Norfolk side, while Staffordshire eased to victory against Northamptonshire.

Warwickshire Juniors headed into the final round of matches of the County Division 1a championships at Westfield TTC, Weavers Leisure centre with relegation for the second successive season a distinct possibility. With only 2 points separating them from both South Yorkshire and Worcestershire and the dreaded drop, Warwickshire needed to secure 3 points from their remaining 4 fixtures in order to cement their place in the division.
