RDTTA Centenary AGM and Annual Awards Presentation - Review

The celebration of an evening that represents a milestone in the Associations history was an enjoyable occasion for the 55 attendees, a much larger attendance than usual.

The AGM  came first this year and it marked  a "changing of the guard" so to speak, as we said "farewell" to the Chairman and General Secretary, Derek Harrison and Nigel Maltby, both with decades of service in support of the Association and "hello" to two people new to those roles, Martin Adams and Alistair Richardson. The retirees were justifiably praised, in person in respect of Nigel and, in his absence (for health reasons), in respect of Derek.

Note that there were no changes to the playing rules or the charges to the Clubs arising from the AGM.

Following the AGM there was the awards Ceremony with the Association President, Peter Bradley, presenting the following Awards:

Following the Awards Ceremony the Buffet started. Towards the end of that came the draw for the Raffle prize, donated by Eric Van Looy and consisting  of bottles of Belgian Beers and Chocolates. This provided an unexpected entertainment in that a 'possible owner' of the first ticket drawn couldn't find it! As a result  another ticket was drawn that was matched with the ticket of the very lucky winner!

The last part of the evening was given over to the Quiz developed and run by our very recently elected Chairman, Martin Adams. There were a good few teams, which were loosely based on those present around the tables at which people had been eating their buffet. Some of the teams may have been purely from one club, but not all, and in any case they all had a team name which they selected and did not relate to any Club name. There were several sets of questions including pictures and a close result with one team winning by 1 point I think.

Throughout the evening, was a Display of Memorabilia relating to the Association and its history:

                       - Including Photos, Newspaper items, Handbooks, Newsletters

Much of the above had been loaned by Derek Harrison, collected by him over many decades.
